Join the CPF's Crime Watch Network in Kempton Park

The Kempton Park CPF is comprised of 6 sectors. Some of these sectors are comprised of more than one suburb. The CPF urges residents to join their area specific WhatsApp Crime Watch Groups so that they might stay informed of criminal activity in their areas.

Please note that unlike other WhatsApp Community Groups, Crime Watch Groups are not chat forums. Please take the time to read Sector 2's WhatsApp Group Rules here.

Crime is a serious problem in our Community. We urge the community to work together with the CPF so that we might help SAPS bring the perpetrators to book.

To Join your local Crime Watch Group please click on the area you live in on the map below, and click on Join WhatsApp Crime Group.

The CPF is a volunteer organisation, please allow some time for your application to be processed.

What is the CPF

INFORMATIVE

What is the CPF

A CPF is a group of people working or residing in the area, who meet with their assigned SAPS member to amongst other things, discuss crime in the area.  CPF stands for Community Police Forum.

This partnership can result in the achievement of many objectives both from the community and the SAPS.  For example:

  • It can reduce the fear of crime in the community.
  • It can improve police accountability and transparency.
  • It can improve SAPS effectiveness at reducing crime.
  • It can deter criminals.

In the Kempton Express – Kempton Police give tips on keeping children safe after attempted kidnappings

INFORMATIVE

Photo Caption Captain Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, and Kim Coetzee, Kempton Park CPF Exco public relations officer, stand firm against kidnappings and attempted kidnapping of children. They both believe that together and working hand-in-hand with the community can help keep children safe.

KEMPTON POLICE GIVE TIPS ON KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE AFTER ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPINGS

Consider these and teach your children safety tips that might help during attempts of kidnapping.

With the ongoing warnings, attempts, and in some cases kidnappings, parents have become anxious and panicked about their children’s safety.

  • Following two alleged kidnappings of two primary school girls in Kempton Park, Kim Coetzee, Kempton Park CPF Exco public relations officer, shared five tips to keep children safe:
  • Teach children your phone number: They should know your cellphone number and their address.
  • Keep friends close: If your child is going to a place they have never been to before or aren’t that well familiar with, they should take a trusted friend along.
  • Avoid shortcuts: Avoid walking through areas that are not visible to general traffic. Please teach this to children as well.
  • Teach children to use those lungs, speed and noises are key: If someone is chasing your child or forcing them into a car, teach them to scream and if the attacker doesn’t have a dangerous weapon, advise them to make a dash for it.
  • Keep connected: Make sure you know how to find or contact your children at all times. If they are too young to carry a cellphone, ensure you can contact their older sibling, guardian or anyone who looks after them.

In the Kempton Express – What to do to request your police sector vehicle

INFORMATIVE

“In life and death situations where backup is needed urgently please ensure that 10111 is included in the calls for SAPS assistance” - Kim Coetzee.

What to do to request your police sector vehicle

Ever wondered what the procedure is for calling a police vehicle out?

Kim Coetzee, Kempton Park CPF public relations officer, shares a few tips on the correct procedure for getting a police vehicle.

“Firstly, log a call through 10111 and record the IR number,” said Coetzee.

“Quote the IR number when calling for assistance on any of the CPF crime groups.

“With the IR number SAPS management can then follow up on the exact times, to who the complaint was given to the result through actual recordings.
